Marooned · Privacy Policy

Last updated: 18 October 2026

Marooned is a music and visuals app developed by Efe Ozan Akay. This policy explains what data the app handles.

Data we collect

Marooned does not ask you to create an account and does not ask for your name, email or location. It shows no ads and does not track you across apps or websites. The microphone and camera are not used. The iOS app collects no analytics; the anonymous counts kept by the web version are described below.

Jam Together

When you play with friends, touch data (which string, where, how far it is bent), tempo, key and the drum pattern are sent between the phones for the length of the jam. No audio or video is sent. This data travels either directly between phones on the same network (WebRTC) or through our jam server on Cloudflare, which relays it and does not store it. To set up a direct connection, the phones' network (IP) addresses are shared with each other and with Cloudflare's connection-setup server; this is how WebRTC works. Players appear under names like "Player 2". An invite code is valid for at most 3 hours; when the room closes, its record on the server is deleted.

Web version and usage counts

The web version keeps daily counts to see whether the app is used: how many devices opened it (each device at most once a day, as "new" on its first day and "returning" afterwards), how many jams were started, and how often capture, video and song mode were used. New devices and new jams are also counted by the short label on the link that brought them (for example a tag on an ad link, or “invite” for a jam invite); that label is kept on your device only to send this count. No identifier, cookie, device ID or IP address is attached to these counts, and they cannot be linked to anyone. To remember whether the device was already counted today, your browser stores only the date of your last visit.

Data that stays on your device

Your saved jams, settings and ghost loops are stored only on your device. Videos and audio you record are saved or shared only by you, through the share sheet.

Purchases

Marooned Pro purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store; we never receive your payment details. RevenueCat is used to confirm your subscription status. RevenueCat processes purchase history with a randomly generated anonymous user ID that is not linked to your name or contact details. Details: RevenueCat Privacy Policy.

Children

Because the app collects no personal data, it collects none from children either.
